Firstly, apologies for lack of recent posts, but the inclement weather over the last couple of weekends denied all but the brave from sailing.
Todays report comes from the pen of Mark, our Club Chairman. Unfortunately, due to a recent family bereavement, I am still continuing to sort a lot of things out at home.
For the first time in several weeks the weather was kind to us, and it was ideal for all types of sailing.
The club 500 skippers took the opportunity to have several practice laps prior to next weeks interclub races, as you can see in the pictures some skippers decided to do some inverted sailing, this is something I would not recommend next week.
There was a slight breeze which allowed Paul, Carl and myself some time on the water with our yachts.
Titus, John and Pat took along their scale boats and took advantage of the nice calm water.
The fast electric boys had some very close races Paul and Pat got a little to close resulting in a very impressive coming together as can be seen in the video.
Terry at one point forgot which boat he was sailing took his eyes of his boat then proceeded to do some landscape alterations to the bank, to everyones amazement the damage to his boat was unbelievably minimal.
Dave was on hand to give help and advice to club new member John and hopefully sorted out those little glitches we all suffer from time to time.
After sailing we were told that someone was sailing a fast electric boat and departed before the rest of members turned up.
I was informed this person parked his car very close to the edge of the grass and on the wrong side of the barrier.
In addition i have been asked to remind club members that all vehicles MUST be parked behind the barrier.
Finally a reminder that next Saturday the 7th of June is the club 500 interclub challenge and I ask if you are available to join us to it a success, there should be ample free time for other types of craft to have a sail.
A few of us are planning on getting there around 11.30 to make sure the course is ok, the first race will hopefully start around 1pm.
Take Care
Mark Hough
