This afternoons sailing was a little low on numbers, the overcast clouds and earlier morning showers must of deterred all but the hardiest of club members from attending today.
This was also scheduled for the first actual "live" HUFFY racing challenge, the first run event was used as a training run for both the time keeper, scorer & lap counter as well as the competitors too.
There were very few scale boats in use, I personally was unable to bring any boat along, due to my recent operation on my hand, so am out of action till the stitches come out and given the "all clear" from the hospital again. Wayne brought alone his Discovery sail boat, which given the low wind levels was still an entertaining site to see, as is any radio controlled sail boat. the fast electric boats are always on a competitive edge and this afternoon was no different. The demand for speed did show up a few niggle faults on some boats, that plagued them all afternoon, perhaps someone needs to really sit down and sort them out properly!
The HUFFY racing had a poor turnout, the first race was the standard class and only 2 boats were entered, one of which failed to finish, so was a walk in the park, or more of the "tortoise and the hare" if you could of watched the race.
The second race, for the modified class was again low numbered with just 2 entries and again one boat suffering from mechanical failure and a "dnf" for the score sheet!
The NEXT HUFFY race will be in TWO [2] weeks time, so lets see if we can get a decent number of starters out there AND hopefully get more than one finisher!
REMINDER for all those interested in joining the club members on the mini bus hire to the Coalville show. Mark Hough needs to know who you are AND needs a deposit of £5 [per person] to secure a seat on the minibus for you, please get in touch with him ASAP, dont leave it too late. Marks contact details are in your club members handbook.
