Tuesday Sailing, 21/6/11.

Longest day 2011. the weather looked a bit overcast and windy when I left my house to drive to the pool, but the banking around the Chase pool served its purpose yet again and sheltered the pool nicely away from too harsh a cross wind. I can only presume Wimbeledon or BBQ time held a lot of you back home, never mind, more water space for those who did turn up ! Daz was there, testing out the revised layout of his Saga Cat, now its dropped to single motor/prop its taking some setting up to get it to handle and also get back its old spark of performance, but with its low amperage esc, its a delicate line to ride between speed and amp draw which could blow the controller, maybe its time to leave "as is" untill a higher amp controller is to hand . Carl also arrived with his latest boat, a rather nice little deep vee hull with some very nice shaping to the hull too. yet again, setting up was the game for today and this was still going on even after I left for home! Member boat update - Victoria Yacht Build.

I have finally completed the build, er as far as I know [famous last words I do appreciate]. I have added as many of the Longbow accessory options as I could see fit, apart from replacing the sails. I need to see how it handles on its factory originals before I can make any judgement on this item. Weight? Victoria racing rules state a minimum "all up " weight of 4 1/2 Lbs. I did try my best to shave off what I could, but have still finished with a complete boat weighing in at 4 Lbs 12 ounces. So I failed [ha ha]. Must of been the spray paint on the hull, my excuse and sticking to it. trouble is, apart from running different sail cloth material colours, there is little way of identifying your own boat out on the water, if sailing with a few similar yachts, so I decided to paint the hull. I did run the sail servo wires internally, to reduce any chance of a snag on something on the outside, plus by doing this it also enabled me to have an easier ...

Perkasa update.

I am continuing to renovate my Perkasa boat and have finally acquired 2 drive motors, which have now been fitted, along with the propeller shafts and rudders. Now that the rudders are in situ, has also allowed me to bond in the Turbine exhausts, as I wish to display the boat with exhaust doors open, so it appears to be using the gas turbines for power, rather than leaving the doors closed, so making the boat look like its only using the reserve engines. But due to location of the exhausts, I have to wait until the rudders were in and linked up, to check for proper operation, before I bonded in the exhaust tubes, as they sit above the rudder posts. yes there is sufficient room to enable adjustment and removal [if need be] but had to be doubly sure before the glue was used.
